World Bank Approves $47.9m Gant for Punjab Education Project
ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has approved a grant of $47.9 million to support Punjab’s education project aimed at expanding access and strengthening the quality of primary schooling in the province, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
The initiative seeks to increase enrolment at pre-primary and primary levels, with more than four million children expected to directly benefit. The project also aims to bring back around 80,000 out-of-school children into the education system.

According to the World Bank, over 100,000 teachers and parents will benefit from training and awareness programmes, while the project will also focus on teacher capacity-building and institutional reforms. It further seeks to adapt the education system to challenges posed by climate change and other emergencies.
In addition, around 140,000 students in special education institutions are expected to be included under the programme. The Bank noted that the initiative would contribute to human capital development and broader economic growth in Punjab.
