ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla — a humanitarian mission carrying international activists and aid to Gaza — calling it a “grave violation of international law” and an affront to global solidarity.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Pakistan said the flotilla represented a “vital humanitarian effort rooted in moral resolve,” and its obstruction by Israeli forces was unacceptable. The country reaffirmed that the security and well-being of Pakistani citizens on board remain its highest priority.

Pakistan, which does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel, said it is working through friendly nations in the region to secure the immediate release of its citizens detained during the interception.

The Foreign Office recalled that on September 16, 2025, Pakistan joined 15 other nations in a collective statement expressing deep concern for the safety of those aboard the flotilla.

“Pakistan continues to coordinate with allied nations to safeguard its nationals,” the statement added, reiterating Islamabad’s firm commitment to ensuring their swift and safe return.

The government further stressed that the actions taken by Israel undermine international humanitarian norms and called on the global community to hold it accountable for obstructing peaceful relief efforts.
