Islamabad ‘kidnapping’ case turns out to be staged drama, police say
ISLAMABAD: Police on Friday said the alleged kidnapping of an Islamabad resident was in fact a staged drama planned to evade financial liabilities and implicate rivals in criminal cases.
According to investigators, the main suspect, Nooruddin, along with his two accomplices, was arrested from Rahim Yar Khan after a police investigation uncovered the alleged plot.
Police said Nooruddin and his associates created fake kidnapping videos and circulated them on social media to make the incident appear genuine.
Investigators alleged that the suspect had collected large sums of money from several individuals through fraudulent means and later staged his own abduction to avoid repaying the money.

Authorities also claimed the fake kidnapping was intended to falsely implicate opponents in criminal proceedings.
The case was originally registered at Aabpara Police Station on May 1 after Nooruddin’s brother, Saifuddin, reported that he had been abducted from the federal capital.
Police said SP City Ayaz and his team traced the suspects using modern technology and human intelligence before conducting the operation that led to their arrest.
