Danish University to begin classes in 2027, PM told
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was informed on Wednesday that the newly established Danish University in Islamabad will begin academic classes in 2027, providing high-quality education to students from underprivileged regions across the country.
Chairing a review meeting on the progress of the Danish education network, the prime minister described the government-funded Danish schools and university as a vital national asset and one of the country’s most important investments in its youth.
“The construction of Danish schools across the country and the Danish University in Islamabad represents the best investment for our nation’s bright future,” Sharif said.
The prime minister directed the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to establish a dedicated technology campus of the university in Muzaffarabad.
He also instructed authorities to expedite the completion of 27 Danish schools currently under construction in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials briefed the meeting that construction of the Danish School in Islamabad’s Kuri area has been completed and regular classes are already under way.
They added that construction work on Danish schools in Bagh, Bhimber, Sultanabad, Ghanche and Astore is nearing completion, with academic sessions expected to begin in April 2027.
The meeting was informed that the recruitment process for faculty members at the flagship Danish University has already started ahead of its planned launch in 2027.
Officials said admissions would be granted strictly on merit, with special emphasis on providing educational opportunities to students from marginalised communities.
The prime minister stressed that all teaching and administrative appointments across the Danish education network must be made solely on merit to maintain high academic standards.
He also directed authorities to ensure that the architectural design of all Danish school buildings reflects the cultural heritage of their respective regions.
The meeting was attended by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and senior government officials.
