18 terrorists killed in two incidents in Balochistan: ISPR

WEB DESK: Eighteen terrorists affiliated with Fitna Al Hindustan were killed in two separate incidents in Balochistan on Wednesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the ISPR, an under-preparation Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) detonated in Surab district in the morning while terrorists were preparing it.

The premature explosion killed eight terrorists, while several others sustained injuries, the ISPR added.

The blast, followed by a secondary explosion involving explosives stored at the site, also resulted in the deaths of three civilians living nearby, the military’s media wing said.

Following the incident, security forces and Balochistan Police launched a joint clearance operation to track down the terrorists and their facilitators.

During the operation, security forces detected the movement of fleeing terrorists and engaged them, killing 10 more terrorists, the media wing added.

The military’s media wing said a total of 18 terrorists affiliated with Fitna Al Hindustan had been killed in the incidents so far.

Two security personnel also sustained injuries during an exchange of fire, the ISPR added.

Sanitisation operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists.

The ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
