Islamabad Traffic Police warn citizens against fake e-challan scam

WEB DESK: Islamabad Traffic Police on Sunday warned residents of the federal capital about a new online scam involving fake e-challan notifications being circulated through SMS and WhatsApp.

In a statement shared on X, the traffic police said fraudsters are sending fake messages claiming recipients have committed traffic violations and urging them to click on suspicious links.

Authorities warned that these links redirect users to fraudulent websites designed to steal personal information, banking credentials and other sensitive data.

The traffic police advised citizens not to click on unverified links or share personal, financial or banking information with unknown sources.

Residents were urged to verify all e-challan notifications only through official government channels and remain vigilant against cyber fraud.

Officials said following basic online safety measures and relying solely on authentic platforms can help protect citizens from scams and identity theft.
