Military stresses restraint, regional stability amid Middle East tensions
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military leadership on Tuesday underscored the need for restraint and regional stability amid escalating Middle East tensions, warning that evolving geopolitical developments carry serious implications for peace and security, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
The remarks came during the 275th Corps Commanders’ Conference held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir.
The forum reviewed the regional security environment in the wake of ongoing Middle East tensions triggered by US-Israeli strikes on Iran earlier this year, now under a fragile ceasefire.
According to the ISPR, the military’s top brass emphasised the importance of restraint, avoidance of escalation, and respect for sovereignty, noting that peace and stability in the region depend on collective responsibility.
The forum also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in advocating stability and supporting diplomatic efforts to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
Field Marshal Munir expressed satisfaction over the armed forces’ operational preparedness and professionalism, commending commanders for their vigilance and success in ongoing intelligence-based operations across the country.
The conference conducted a comprehensive review of internal and external security dynamics, reiterating resolve to maintain operational momentum to dismantle terrorist networks and eliminate their support structures.
Discussing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, the forum noted continued degradation of militant groups and criticised the Afghan Taliban for allegedly providing safe havens to militants, calling it a policy that is “backfiring”.
It also rejected what it termed a coordinated disinformation campaign by the Taliban regime, accusing it of falsely portraying Pakistan’s actions as targeting civilians inside Afghanistan.
The military leadership reaffirmed that Pakistan’s actions are precise and directed only against terrorist hideouts and infiltrators.
The forum also marked the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, describing it as a symbol of national unity and resolve. It said the commemoration sends a clear message that the nation remains united and prepared to respond to any threat.
The participants strongly condemned ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people.
In his concluding remarks, Munir directed commanders to maintain high vigilance, operational readiness, and adaptability, stressing the importance of professional excellence and proactive responses to emerging threats.
The forum also offered prayers for martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians, paying tribute to their sacrifices in safeguarding the country.
