Privatisation Commission, ADB sign advisory agreement for Islamabad airport outsourcing

ADB to provide technical, financial, legal and commercial support to ensure a transparent process for attracting international investors.

ISLAMABAD: The Privatisation Commission and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed an agreement under which the multilateral lender will serve as the financial adviser for the outsourcing of Islamabad International Airport.

Under the agreement, the ADB will provide technical, financial, legal and commercial advisory services to support the outsourcing process and help ensure a transparent and competitive transaction.

The agreement was signed by ADB representatives Emma Fan and Shahid Daio on behalf of their respective institutions.

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Privatisation and Chairman of the Privatisation Commission Muhammad Ali attended the signing ceremony, along with senior officials from the Privatisation Commission, the Privatisation Division and the ADB.

According to officials, the advisory support is aimed at attracting leading international airport operators and investors through a transparent and competitive bidding process.

The outsourcing initiative forms part of the government’s broader privatisation agenda aimed at improving operational efficiency in the aviation sector, enhancing service delivery and increasing private-sector participation in the management of state-owned assets.
