Punjab education boards announce matric toppers ahead of SSC results

LAHORE: Education boards across Punjab on Wednesday announced the names of the top position holders in the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examinations, a day before the official declaration of matriculation results.

The position holders were announced by the Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala and Multan boards, while complete results will be released on Thursday, August 6.

According to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, around 285,800 students appeared in this year’s matric examinations. Amina Mehboob, a student of a private school in Pattoki, Kasur, secured the overall first position with 1,192 marks out of 1,200. A student of Danish High School, Rajanpur, claimed second position with 1,191 marks, while Azba Javed of Johar Town, Lahore, secured third place.

In the Lahore Board’s boys’ arts group, Muhammad Abdullah stood first with 1,126 marks, followed by Muhammad Bilal Baig with 1,112 marks and Imad Hafeez with 1,109 marks.

The Faisalabad Board declared Amina Salahuddin as the overall topper after she scored 1,191 marks. Rameen Fatima secured second position with 1,190 marks, while Muhammad Raif Abdul Ahad finished third with 1,189 marks. Raif Abdul Ahad also topped the boys’ science group, while Amina Salahuddin led the girls’ science group. Muhammad Saim Ali and Insharah secured first positions in the boys’ and girls’ general groups respectively.

In Bahawalpur, Abdul Haseeb of Government Abbasia Higher Secondary School clinched the overall first position with 1,186 marks. His classmate Muzammil Bilal secured second position with 1,184 marks, while Javeria Fatima and Iman Fatima Malik jointly claimed third position with 1,183 marks. Government Abbasia Higher Secondary School secured both the first and second overall positions.

The Dera Ghazi Khan Board announced Abdullah Saleem of Layyah as the overall topper with 1,191 marks. Meer Mujtaba from Taunsa Sharif secured second position with 1,190 marks, while Farwah Ahmed of Muzaffargarh, Meerab Zahra of Layyah and Syed Muhammad Joon Abbas also from Layyah jointly secured third place with 1,189 marks each. Board Chairman Professor Dr Abdul Rauf congratulated the successful students and their families.

The Gujranwala Board declared Adina Rashid and Siddiqa Almas as joint overall first position holders after both obtained 1,190 marks. Zain Akram secured second position with 1,188 marks, while Muhammad Ahmed finished third with 1,187 marks. A ceremony to honour the position holders will be held in Sialkot on Thursday, where Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat is expected to formally announce the matriculation results.

The Multan Board also announced its toppers before the official release of results. Mehreen Rasool secured the overall first position with 1,190 marks, followed by Faiqa Mehboob with 1,188 marks. Humna Ibrahim, Khadija Chaudhry and Arsalna Fatima jointly secured third position with 1,187 marks each.

In the Multan Board’s boys’ science group, Hamza Imran and Abdul Moeed jointly secured first position with 1,184 marks, Samiullah came second with 1,180 marks, while Abdul Hadi, Muhammad Yahya and Arsal Ehsan shared third position with 1,179 marks each.

In the girls’ science group, Mehreen Rasool secured first place, Faiqa Mehboob came second, while Humna Ibrahim, Khadija Chaudhry and Arsalna Fatima jointly finished third.

In the boys’ arts group, Muhammad Waqas topped with 1,089 marks, followed by Faizan with 1,083 marks and Muhammad Mughni with 1,066 marks. In the girls’ arts group, Tanzila Abbas secured first position with 1,123 marks. Amina Ashiq and Sitara Bibi shared second place with 1,121 marks, while Tayyaba and Fazilat Fatima jointly claimed third position with 1,116 marks.

Punjab’s nine education boards conduct the annual matriculation examinations every year, with position holders traditionally announced one day before the release of complete results. The examinations are considered a major academic milestone for students seeking admission to intermediate colleges across the province.
