Trump to attend FIFA World Cup 2026 final in New Jersey

WEB DESK: US President Donald Trump will attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19, the White House has confirmed.

The final will see defending champions Argentina take on Spain in the biggest FIFA World Cup ever staged.

Trump’s attendance comes as the United States co-hosts the tournament alongside Canada and Mexico. The US president has played an active role in preparations for the event, having previously established a White House task force to coordinate World Cup-related arrangements.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino also confirmed that Trump will be present at the final and will join FIFA officials during the post-match trophy presentation ceremony.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being held across 16 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with the United States hosting the majority of matches, including the final in the New York-New Jersey region.

Trump previously attended the FIFA Club World Cup final in 2025 at MetLife Stadium, where he also participated in the trophy presentation ceremony alongside FIFA officials.

The final is expected to attract a global audience as Lionel Messi’s Argentina aim to defend their World Cup title against Spain in one of the tournament’s most anticipated matches.
