Sindh police forms committee to modernise force with AI, cybercrime and drone units
KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has constituted a high-level committee to modernise the Sindh Police and align the force with contemporary policing requirements, The News reported on Monday.
According to the report, the committee will be headed by Additional Inspector General (Establishment and Training) Iqbal Dara.
Its members include the deputy inspectors general of Establishment and West Zone, assistant inspectors general of State Management and Finance, the AIG Investigation East Zone, while the AIG Establishment will serve as the committee’s secretary.
The committee has been tasked with reviewing the immediate requirements for establishing and integrating specialised units within the Sindh Police, including artificial intelligence-based policing systems, cybercrime wings, drone operation units for aerial surveillance, specialised investigation and security forces, and professional media and strategic communication teams.

It will also carry out a technical assessment to determine the need for additional personnel and evaluate the requirement for information technology experts and other professionally skilled staff.
The committee will develop a structured framework for recruiting new personnel or reassigning serving police officers to modern policing roles as part of broader institutional reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening the force’s technological capabilities.
