ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy on Tuesday rescued seven crew members, including Indian nationals, from a distressed offshore vessel in the Arabian Sea after receiving a distress call, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

According to the ISPR, the vessel, identified as MV Gautam, was en route from Oman to India when it suffered a critical technical failure, leaving it stranded at sea.

The crew comprised six Indian nationals and one Indonesian.

Upon receiving an alert from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Mumbai, the Pakistan Navy initiated a swift response and deployed a ship of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, PNS Kashmir.

The naval team provided food, medical assistance and technical support onboard to ensure the safety of the crew and help restore essential systems.

The ISPR said the operation reflects the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maritime safety and humanitarian responsibilities, regardless of nationality, and its readiness to respond to emergencies in regional waters.

The navy has conducted multiple such rescue missions in recent years. In April, it rescued 18 crew members from another distressed vessel, Gold Autumn, in the North Arabian Sea, providing medical aid and evacuation to Karachi for further care and repatriation.
