Petrol pump owners announce nationwide indefinite strike from July 22 midnight

ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association on Tuesday announced an indefinite nationwide strike after negotiations with the government failed to produce an agreement on its key demands.

In a statement, the association said petrol pumps across the country would remain closed from midnight on July 22 until the government addresses its concerns.

The decision was taken after talks between representatives of the association and Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik ended without any breakthrough.

According to the association, negotiations on increasing dealers’ profit margins and concerns over the government’s decision to introduce daily revisions in petroleum prices remained inconclusive.

The association directed petrol pump owners across the country to fully participate in the strike while maintaining unity and ensuring that the protest remains peaceful.

It urged the government to take a positive and acceptable decision on its demands, warning that the strike would continue indefinitely until the issues are resolved.
