Field Marshal Asim Munir gains international recognition for Iran-US mediation efforts
ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir continues to receive international attention for his role in mediation efforts between the United States and Iran amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
According to reports by CBS News and other international media outlets, Field Marshal Munir’s recent visit to Iran played an important role in advancing negotiations and narrowing differences between the two sides.
During the visit, the field marshal held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials. The discussions reportedly helped refine a draft proposal later shared with both Iranian and American authorities for further review.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged progress in the negotiations, saying that a potential agreement was nearing completion and praising Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement in the process.

Rubio described Pakistan as playing a key role in facilitating talks and maintaining communication channels between the parties involved.
US President Donald Trump has also publicly appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts and repeatedly praised Field Marshal Munir’s diplomatic role during the ongoing negotiations.
Analysts say Pakistan’s ability to maintain working relations with multiple regional and global stakeholders has strengthened its position as a credible intermediary during a highly sensitive geopolitical crisis.
Observers further noted that coordination between Pakistan’s political and military leadership has contributed to the country’s growing diplomatic profile, particularly in conflict resolution and regional stability initiatives.
Pakistan’s recent mediation efforts are being viewed as part of its broader strategy to promote dialogue, de-escalation and peaceful engagement in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
