Ishaq Dar urges restraint in call with Iranian foreign minister

Deputy prime minister stresses dialogue and diplomacy amid escalating regional tensions.

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi amid heightened regional tensions following the recent exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and discussed the latest developments.

During the conversation, Ishaq Dar stressed the need for all parties to exercise restraint and work towards de-escalation in accordance with the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The deputy prime minister reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means of resolving disputes and promoting lasting peace, security and stability in the region.
