Pak Army cadet wins top foreign honour at Australia’s RMC Duntroon
CANBERRA: A Pakistan Army cadet has been declared the “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” at the Royal Military College Duntroon, highlighting the professional standards of Pakistan’s junior military leadership, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas of the Pakistan Military Academy (152 Long Course) received the honour during the passing-out parade held in Canberra on May 5, 2026.
The award is given to the highest-performing foreign cadet across all aspects of military training, reflecting excellence in leadership, discipline and performance.
The commissioning parade was reviewed by Simon Stuart, Chief of Army of Australian Army, and attended by members of the diplomatic corps, including Pakistan’s high commissioner, families of graduating cadets and defence officials.

The ISPR noted that Pakistan and Australia share a longstanding military relationship. Since 2013, seven Pakistan Army officers have served as platoon commanders at the academy, while 46 Pakistani cadets have graduated from the institution since 2009.
This marks the 14th time a Pakistani cadet has received the distinction, including Nasir Hussain Khalid Selhria, who was martyred in 2020 and whose name is inscribed at the RMC parade ground as a symbol of sacrifice and service.
