Karachi Hill Park encroachment claims spark controversy over kmc land department
Karachi: Alleged encroachment and disputed construction activity near Hill Park have raised fresh concerns over the role of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) land department, Geo News reported on Sunday.
According to official documents, the KMC land department issued a conditional no objection certificate (NOC) on April 30 for a plot in PECHS Block 6 near Hill Park. The NOC stated that construction would face no objection if the relevant housing society and other authorised bodies raised no objections, and if the land was found not to be government or KMC property.
However, the document also clarified that the issuance of the NOC does not confirm ownership rights or final demarcation of the land.

In a separate development, the KMC director land wrote to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East, alleging that some individuals were attempting to legalise occupation or construction on government and Hill Park land using forged documents and NOCs. The letter requested police action against those involved in the alleged illegal activity.
Meanwhile, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab rejected any suggestion of land allotment, stating that Hill Park remains and will continue to remain the property of KMC.
Addressing a press conference, the mayor said that not even a single inch of Hill Park land had been handed over to any individual or organisation.
The situation has triggered renewed debate over land management and regulatory oversight in the city, while investigations into the alleged encroachment are expected to continue.
